Lab 13 was about creating a wordle of my favorite teacher. A wordle is word clouds. To make a wordle, I typed in many words that describe my favorite teacher. in the text box. Then, the wordle is created. After I created one, I chose the layout of the wordle.  The layout of the wordle can be the font, color and alignment of the text. Last, I put the screenshot of the wordle into the html document for this lab as well as the html document for the project 3.

By completing this lab, I learned what wordle is and how to make it. In the future, I can create a wordle and put it into my website.

Reflection Journal: Lab#12 CSS

http://techteach.us/DD2014/KHisanobu/Labs/LB12/Labindex%20-%20Copy.html

Lab#12 was about making CSS and applying it to my entire lab folder. CSS or cascading style sheet is used to define styles of texts, background colors and other elements in a HTML document. In order to make CSS, I used Adobe Dreamweaver. Then I typed a html element such as "h1". Next, I used curly brackets to define the style of the element and then I changed the text color of the heading and the background color of the labindex page.

By completing this lab, I learned about CSS and how it is used in a web page. This lab is relevant to web design because web designers can use CSS to make their website colorful and fancy. In the future, I can use CSS to improve my website.

Reflection Journal: The Field Trip to Queensborough Community College

On December 17, 2014, I went to the trip to Queensborough Community College. It was the first trip for our class. We learned about the school and different kinds buildings in the campus. When we visited the technology department of the school, we learned about 3D printers.

First, we went to room for one of the technology class in the school. In this room, the Professor discussed different kinds of technology class such as telecommunication, electronics, computers, internet and information technology. Professor Lawrence talked about 3D printer. He showed us videos of how 3D printer is used in modern life. I learned that a 3D printer uses metals or plastics to print something. Also, I learned that 3D printer is used to create parts for an airplane. He then demonstrated us how 3D printer works. First, something that a person want to print is made in the software. Then it is saved and scanned in order to be printed. Lastly, the item is printed out.
After the workshop about 3D printer, we visited different technology classrooms. I learned what is done in these classrooms. Then, we walked around the campus to see different types of buildings in the school. After this, we visited the Holocaust center. In the Holocaust center, I learned how harsh and tragic the Holocaust was.

The trip helped me to understand what college is like. It also encouraged me to think more about going to college. I learned that how useful 3D printer is in our life from the workshop by Professor Lawrence. I was also impressed by things that are printed by a 3D printer.

Reflection Journal: Project 3

The project#3 was about creating a website about my favorite teacher. My favorite teacher is Mr.Anthony who teaches me U.S. History. My goal for this project was to thank Mr. Anthony.
First, I made four pages. They are biography page, fun facts page, impact page and wordle page.
Then I made buttons that link to each page in the website. I used the flag for the United States because for the buttons because he teaches U.S. History and they are rollover images. By applying CSS to every webpages, the background color and font are kept consistent. In the biography page, I included Mr. Anthony's life. In the impact page, I put how Mr. Anthony has influenced my life. In the fun facts page, there are some interesting facts about Mr. Anthony.

I learned how to make a website using CSS and rollover images. By using rollover images, I learned how to make this website a little more interactive. This project is relevant in Web Design because it helps me to create a website that includes different things such as rollover images and CSS. In the future, I can use the techniques for this project when I need to make a creative website using rollover images and CSS.

http://techteach.us/DD2014/KHisanobu/Projects/PR2/process%20.html

The second project was about creating a website on my favorite cartoon. I chose Pikachu because I like pokemons. First I drew the pikachu on a piece of paper and scanned it. Then, I used Adobe Fireworks tool to color the scanned image. Before I started coloring it, I first selected the pikachu's body parts using the polygon lasso and oval marquee tool. After I selecting them, I used the paint bucket and brush tool to put colors into each body parts. For the parts I could not select such as his hands, nose and mouse, I used the brush tool. When I finished coloring all the parts, I combined all the layers into one single layer. I also tried to improve the image by adding effects.

In order to make a website, I first created three pages. They are biography page, process page and home page.  Then, I inserted the background image, banner, and buttons. In the process page, I explained how I completed this project. In the biography page, I talked about who Pikachu is, what he does and why I like him. In all the pages, I put buttons so that viewers can go through my website easily. When I finished creating the website, I exported it to a html document and connected it to my project index page.

By completing this project, I learned what Fireworks tools are and how to use them. Also, I understood how to use hotspots to link one of my web pages to another web page. This project is important in web designing because it helped me to open up my creativity and to troubleshoot problems. In the future, I can use the skills for this project when I need to create a web page using Adobe Fireworks.

Lab#10 was about coloring an image using Adobe Fireworks tools. Before I started coloring, I drew pikachu, then I scanned the drawing. To color the image, I first selected the pikachu's body parts such as his ears, cheeks and eyes by using the polygon lasso and oval marquee tool. After I selected the parts, I tried to color them by using paint bucket tool. For the parts that I couldn't select, I used the brush tool. When I finished coloring the entire image, I joined all the layers into one single layer.

By completing this lab, I learned how to color a scanned image by using tools in Adobe Fireworks.
Also, I learned how to use the Fireworks tools. This lab is important in Web Design because web designers can use Adobe Fireworks to color images before putting them on a website. I can apply the skills from this lab in the future when I need to insert colors using the Adobe Fireworks tools such as the paint bucket tool.

Reflection Journal: Lab#11

Lab#11 was about improving the image from Lab#10 by using effects in Adobe Fireworks. In order to add effects to my image, I selected the layer, then I chose and applied the effects.  I decided to make the yellow part brighter because I thought that my image would look better by putting more brightness. Also, I used the brush tool to draw the outline. At the end, I put all the layers into one single layer.

What I learned from this lab is that I can add effects to make my image look better. Also, I learned various types of effects that I can use in Adobe Fireworks. This is relevant in Web Design because when designers need to improve the image that they are putting on their website, they can apply the skills from this lab.

I can use the skills from this lab in the future when I need put a rollover image to my web page.

Reflection Journal: Lab Index

My lab index page consists of all the labs I did so far in this class. I made the index pages using Adobe Dreamweaver. I included all my labs in a table using tags like,<tr>, <td>, <table> . I made both screenshots of my labs and text clickable so that it is easy for viewers to go through my index page easily.  Also, my banner can take viewers back to my home page by clicking it.  I listed all my labs horizontally because I thought it would be easy for people if they don't have to scroll down to check my web page.

For all my pages, including the project index page, the lab index page and the index page,  I made clickable buttons that would go to my other pages. I made buttons in Adobe Photoshop using skills that I had obtained last year.  I chose bright colors for the buttons because the background color of my lab index was plain.

I learned how to organize my work by creating a website that contains all of my work.  I also learned that "index.html" stands for the home page of any website. In the future, I can use the skills that I have obtained from this lab when I need to organize my work by using a html document.

Homework October 20, 2014: Detail Oriented

Explain why attention to detail and following procedures are important elements to web design?

In web design, attention to detail and following procedures are important elements because if you miss them, you can make a mistake that will affect your entire work negatively. By following directions, you can keep track on what you are doing. By paying attention to detail, you can find mistakes that you made and fix them. In conclusion, following procedures and paying attention to detail are significant in web designing because they would prevent you from making silly mistakes and creating a bad work.

Homework October 20,2014: MP1-Self Evaluation

I think I did decent in the first marking period. Since my goal for this marking period was to get 85 or higher in this class, I was to able to achieve it by getting 95. Also, I learned basic skills of web designing through the labs and the project. But, I still need to improve in different ways. One way is that I need to manage time and spend it effectively because I couldn't finish some of the labs and other works during class. Therefore, I had to finish them up at home.  Another way is to explain things in detail. Because I lacked explanation in the works that I needed to explain, I got a deduction on the grades of the assignment. As a web designer, I need to be able to write things in detail in order to show my enthusiasm to my clients, my teachers and other people.

Homework October 20,2014: Note Taking

How do we take notes?

We take notes by putting down information into my notebook. In my class, I copy notes that my teacher wrote on the board. I try to write down as many as details possible for my notes so that when I review them I should be able to learn things from my notes. Also, I try to put my notes neatly because if I write messy, I am not able to read and understand them. When I want to list important things, I underline words or circle them so that they recognizable.

Homework September 30,2014: Webpage vs. Website, Storyboard and Sitemap

1)The difference between a website and a web age is that a webpage is a single page of information that can have links to other pages in the website or links outsite the website. However, a website consists of different web pages.
2) A storyboard is a layout of an animation by step by step. It is important because with the storyboard, you can organize your plan. Also, you can review it back and correct your mistakes or make changes.
A sitemap is visual representation of a Website's content. It is important just as storyboards because you can create a simple layout and organize information that you are going to be putting on the website.
